Darley Abbey Consultation: This took place on Friday 12th and Saturday 13th August in Darley Park opposite the café. The City Council propose that there should be a multi-user path along the West side of the river.
The objective is to improve all user access into Darley Park :
· Allow easy and safe access for wheelchairs, mobility scooters and buggies.
· Protect the landscape character of the park.
· Prevent further destruction of the grassland.
· Enhance the aesthetic value of a dilapidated part of the park
This development is an important part of the Southern end of our proposed cycleway.
Three alternative surface materials were on display. The public were asked to express support or objection by ticking a sheet. The number of supporters appeared to far outweigh objectors.
Members of the Derwent Valley Cycleway working group were in attendance and engaged a number of members of the public in conversation about how this development would facilitate safe family cycling and wheelchair access to the park.
Although this information has already been circulated to our wider group of supporters it is most important that we encourage everyone to send individual letters of support to David Winslow Community Parks Officer.
David’s contact details are: | Community Parks Officer | Community Leisure | Communities and Place | The Council House, Corporation Street, Derby, DE1 2FS | 01332 641549 | 07812 300570 | Minicom 01332 256666 |
There is also a questionnaire that can be filled in and sent to David Winslow in the Parks department.
or you can make positive comments on the City Council Planning website.
