September News

Sorry for lack of postings of late, but the transition from Windows 7 to Windows 10 has been difficult to say the least.  So here to catch up on what's been happening.

Samways Cycle Shop has now closed having been our biggest and best bike shop in Derby for many years. A sad loss.

A lady in Etwall has asked if she could finance a seat on the Mickleover Greenway in memory of her late husband and Mavis and I came to the conclusion that we had enough seats, but that the seat at Kingfisher Bridge near Etwall was really in need of  replacement. Materials have been purchased and the seat constructed. We hope to install it and Monday afternoon 19th September and any help would be appreciated.

Derby Cycling Group are organising a mass ride in Derby City Centre in aid of their Space for Cycling Initiative. This will be on Saturday 1st October starting from  the Council House at 11am.

Derby Ranger Martin Aldred is incapacitated with his right arm in plaster after a cycling accident.
We wish him a speedy recovery and that Derbyshire County Council will soon repair the extra pothole in the road caused by his elbow. Ouch!

Derbyshire County Council have mown the verges of the Mickleover Greenway after receiving a whinging mail from Nick Potter. Well done Nick!

Graffiti on the bridge piers near Mickleover Station has been overpainted, and a wrecked caravan dumped by itinerants has been removed from the nearby car park.

We will transport the new Kingfisher seat from Les home next Monday 19th September approx. 2.00 - 2.30 p.m. but would appreciate an extra hand to carry it along the track from Old Station Close.
